Why we started?

In the heart of Stoke, creativity has always existed—but for many, opportunities to explore and develop creative skills have been out of reach. With financial barriers, social deprivation, and mental health struggles affecting many in the community, we saw a gap that needed to be filled.

Our filmmaking charity was born out of a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves the chance to tell their story. Stoke is home to so many individuals with incredible ideas, perspectives, and talents, yet access to filmmaking resources, education, and mentorship has often been limited.

We witnessed young people and adults alike struggling to find creative outlets, feeling disconnected from opportunities that could inspire them and help them grow. Many had dreams of working in film, but lacked the finances to afford expensive courses or the confidence to take the first step. Others were dealing with social isolation, unemployment, or poor mental health, with no space to express themselves and no guidance to turn their passion into something real.

So we decided to change that.

We created a space where anyone—regardless of background or financial situation—could learn the different aspects of filmmaking. Through audio workshops, filmmaking sessions, and scriptwriting classes, we’re giving Stoke residents the chance to develop technical and social skills, connect with like-minded people, and build confidence in their abilities. But more than that, we’re offering a platform for self-expression, a way for people to find their voice, share their experiences, and create something meaningful.

Film is a powerful tool, it tells stories, sparks conversations, and brings communities together. And we believe that Stoke’s community has stories that deserve to be heard.

By providing free, accessible training and mentorship, we’re not just teaching filmmaking; we’re empowering a new generation of creatives who might have otherwise never had the chance. This is more than just learning how to make films, it’s about unlocking potential, fostering creativity, and proving that talent exists everywhere, not just where opportunities do.
